Wikileaks doc at ALA Conference

The controversy surrounding WikiLeaks has extended to the documentary WikiLeaks: Secrets and Lies, which was screened at SXSW in March and which will be making its West Coast premiere at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim.

All conference attendees are encouraged to join OIF on Monday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m. in room 304C of the Anaheim Convention Center for a screening and open (and assuredly lively) discussion.  This is part of the “Now Showing” series of films.

Reviewers have called the film “thought provoking” and “engrossing”.  But WikiLeaks and Julian Assange have expressed significant concerns about the documentary.

For alternative perspectives on Wikileaks, SRRT/ACRL LPSS are presenting the program “National Security vs. the Right to Know” on Saturday, June 23, 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Hilton Anaheim Pacific B.  Among the speakers will be Emma Cape, organizer for the Bradley Manning Support Group.
