Some public challenges in 2019 focused on books that were read aloud to minors. The issues were LGBTQIA and race. But some challenges raise new questions.

Deborah Caldwell-Stone, director of American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, joined with the West Virginia Library Association and the National Coalition Against Censorship to express their concerns with the proposal to remove or restrict “Prince and Knight” in a letter sent to the Upshur County Library board.
