Leroy C. Merritt Reception for a Cause
At each American Library Association Annual Conference, there is a reception and fundraiser to benefit the Leroy C. Merritt Humanitarian Fund. This year’s event, sponsored by President Elect Camila Alire and the
Intellectual Freedom Round Table, will be a wonderful chance to join other librarians who support intellectual freedom and fair employment. The Merritt Fund provides direct financial assistance to librarians who are denied employment rights because of their defense of intellectual freedom or due to discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or place of national origin.
All proceeds go directly to the Merritt Fund and help librarians in need. There is a suggested contribution of $25.
The reception will be held:
Monday, July 13th
5:00 – 7:00 pm
Hilton Chicago, Du Sable Suite (room 2567)
720 S. Michigan
This event, while held during Annual Conference, does not require registration for the conference. You can RSVP to our Facebook page, or contact Jonathan Kelley at jokelley@ala.org or (800) 545-2433 x4226. We look forward to seeing you there!
If you are unable to attend, you can still donate to the Merritt Fund. Visit our donations website for more information.
