50 State Salute to Banned Books Week: California, Illinois, and Massachusetts
Banned Books Week is only three days away! As we count down to the week, we want to share some of the videos that have been created for the 50 State Salute to Banned Books Week.
Today’s featured videos were created by libraries and librarians in California, Illinois, and Massachusetts.
Derek Wolfgram, president-elect of the California Library Association, is the host of the “Press Your Luck: Banned Books Edition.” Find out who faces the whammy:
Illinois Library Association President Pamela Van Kirk provides viewers with a cautionary tale of what happened when the censors came to her town. What was the book that offended some? Did the book remain on the library shelves? Watch to find out what happened:
The Massachusetts Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee wants you to know you have the right to read. Use it!
We hope you enjoy these videos the ones to come. If your community or organization would like to submit a video for your state, check out the 50 State Salute page for more information. The deadline is Friday, September 28, but if you need more time, please contact Nanette Perez via email at nperez@ala.org or via phone at (800) 545-2433, ext. 4225.
